To apply for the WhatsApp Business API, you need to verify your Facebook Business Manager account. If the verification button is grayed out, disabled, or not visible, continue reading to discover steps you can take to enable verification for your Facebook Business Manager account.
Business Managers who are currently ineligible can enable verification by completing their Business Info on Facebook and establishing a WhatsApp Business API account through BizMagnets.
To activate the Facebook Business Manager verification button, create a Facebook for Developers account using the same email address registered with your Facebook Business Manager account. Then, set up a dummy app (not an actual functioning app).
To accomplish this, follow the steps outlined below:
Click here and ensure you are logged into your Facebook Business Manager account.
Click on ‘Get Started’ to initiate the creation of your Facebook for Developers account.
You will be greeted with a welcome screen titled ‘Welcome to Facebook for Developers’. Click on ‘Continue’ to move forward.
Next, you'll need to input your official business email address and agree to Facebook's terms and conditions. Make sure the email address entered is the same as the one associated with your Facebook Business Manager account.
After entering the correct business email, click on 'Send Verification Email.' You will then receive a verification email from Facebook (Meta) to confirm your ownership through the provided email address.
Keep in mind that if you've attempted this process before, you will encounter a screen that prompts you to 'Review Your Email Address.' This gives you the opportunity to update your email address if necessary.
If this prompt appears, ensure that you update your email address to match the one used to create or register your Facebook Business Manager account.
Once the correct email address is entered, click on 'Confirm Email.'
Check your email inbox for the verification email (or confirmation email, if you've entered your email address previously). Click on it to verify or confirm your email address.
Enter the verification code provided in the email into the designated field on your screen. If you haven't received the email from Facebook, click on 'Send Email Again'.
Make sure to also check your Junk/Spam folders. Once you find the email, input the five-digit code into the field and click 'Continue'.
Next, during the creation of your Facebook for Developers account, you will need to choose your role. For example, you might select 'Marketer,' but feel free to choose any role that best describes your position. Once you have made your selection, click on 'Complete Registration'.
Now, you will be taken to the screen where you can create apps. Click on 'Create App' to start setting up a new app. Note that you won't be creating a functional app; this step is simply to facilitate the verification process by creating a test app.
After clicking on 'Create App', you'll need to choose the type of app you are creating. Since this app is solely for enabling verification of your Facebook Business Manager account, select 'None' from the options provided and then click 'Next'.
Next, you will be prompted to name your app and provide an email address associated with it. You can choose any name for the app. For the contact email, it's advisable to use the same email ID that you used to register your Facebook Business Manager account to keep things straightforward and avoid complications during registration.
Optionally, you can also select your associated Facebook Business Manager account. After filling out these details, click 'Next'.
You will be taken to the 'App Dashboard'. Simply copy the 'App ID' that is displayed and return to your Business Settings. Then, click on 'Apps' from the menu on the left side.
You will need to link an app to your Facebook Business Manager account. Click on 'Add', then select 'Connect an app ID'.
Enter the app ID you previously copied from your Facebook for Developers panel into the designated field, as shown below, and click on 'Add app'.
Since you are the admin of the app, your request will be automatically approved. Click 'OK'. Then, refresh your page; the newly added app should now appear.
Return to the 'Security Center' via the left-side menu in 'Business Settings', where you should now see the 'Start Verification' option available.
If the Facebook Business Manager verification button is not visible, please follow the steps outlined below.
Click here and click on ‘Business’, then ‘Next’.
Enter any name for your business app and the email address you used to register for your Facebook Business Manager account. Then, select your connected Facebook Business Manager from the dropdown menu. After that, click on 'Create App'.
Enter your password when prompted to confirm your identity.
Return to your 'Business Settings' and click on 'Apps'. You should see the business app you recently created on your Facebook for Developers account.
Navigate to the 'Security Center' from the menu on the left side and refresh the page. You should then see the verification option.
